Research Council (SRC) exists to help the people of Saskatchewan develop
a viable economy with quality jobs and a secure environment. We do this through
research, development and transfer of innovative scientific and technological
solutions, applications and services. The SRC's investigations into hemp as a
possible source of feedstock for the ethanol plus industry have turned up a few
positive findings to date. Hemp appears to be unusually rich in cellulose as compared
to hemicellulose. This means that hemp will be easier to ferment to ethanol than
wheat straw for example. Keith Hutchence 515 Henderson
